6/8/07

Hi all,

I hope the summer is treating you all well thus far! I can definitely say it's been relaxing for me. I'll be starting up at Healia next Friday, so it feels like I'm inhabiting a vast expanse of free time. I'm enjoying it while it lasts. :)

To keep everyone in loop and up-to-date, I am going to start sending out a weekly MBAA newsletter. Since we won't be all meeting as a group during the summer, this will be our sole mode of group communication. Thus if you have questions or comments that you feel the MBAA council should be aware of, please reply all. Thanks!

MBAA dues & early payment
MBAA dues for the 07-08 school year will be $235. We will be doing our best to strongly encourage incoming students to pay their MBAA dues early. We'll use announcements of summer TGs to incoming students as a way to promote the MBAA (we are the ones funding the summer TGs). Our message to the incoming class will be that summer TGs will be a great opportunity for early payment (they can bring their checks). Early payment will not, however, be a requirement for summer TG attendance.

This information will be communicated to the new class soon in a post on their discussion board.

For the new GMBA class (see below), MBAA dues will be $120 for the year.

Abi is in charge of collecting and recording MBAA dues.

GMBA students
The Global MBA class of '08 starts their intensive summer session on Monday 6/18. As of latest count, there are 10 students in this class. I had a chance to meet four of them this morning; they're very enthusiastic about participating in the MBAA and clubs. Because they're only with the program for the year, they will be paying reduced MBAA dues of $120.

Erin Dennett (ee2@u.washington.edu) is working closely with this group. To learn more about them, check out this page: http://bschool.washington.edu/gmba/

MBAA web updates
Next week I will be doing some maintenance work on the MBAA site. I'll keep you posted.
Project update form
Kien is using his mad project management skillz to create a project-tracking form for the MBAA council. Stay tuned.
Thanks all. I'll see some of you tomorrow night at graduation,

Jonathan
