Evening student orientation and happy hour
Wendie is looking for volunteers to help with Evening student orientation on September 14th and 15th. If you'd like to help, please let her know ( wrp@u.washington.edu). Rough outline of the schedule:
Sept 14 (fri) Check-in 12:30-1 pm
Student Q &A 4:00-5:00 (not sure of the exact time, but somewhere in there) Sept 15 (sat) Check-in 8-9 am
Tim Randall (evening '09) and I have been planning out an evening networking event for the evening of Fri, Sept 14. The plan is: drinks on the ave, and get as many people out (current FT students, current evening students, GMBA) to meet the new incoming evening class. More info on this forthcoming.
As you've seen in Tareyn's email, the next TG is on Saturday the 28th. I've posted this info the Admit student discussion board. Like at the last TG, we're encouraging incoming students to bring early payment for MBAA association. Everyone who brings their payment to this TG will be entered into a raffle for a $20 gift certificate to the University Bookstore, which will be distributed near the end of the TG.
WikiAs an experiment, I have set up a wiki for us here:
http://uwmba.wetpaint.com/
Wetpaint looks to be a very easy-to-use wiki service. So far, I've uploaded some meeting notes and the past MBAA newsletters. Let me know what you think. Right now the pages are viewable by anyone but you need permission to edit the pages. If you'd like to play around with editing the pages, let me know and I'll add you to the permission list.
I think this can be a great solution for us to store our meeting notes and build up a repository of searchable information. Wetpaint is free and doesn't have a storage limit (yes, nice!) Ideally this wiki can assist us with information transfer to next year's MBAA officers.

Steffenie has been planning out small group activities for incoming students in LEAD week. The current plan is that these activities will take place during the afternoon of Friday, Sept 14. We'll need at least one student volunteer to help coordinate each activity. We're looking at doing a choice of three activities:
- Greenlake pitch and putt
- Canoeing in the arboretum
- Sculpture park (if sunny) or SAM (if rain)
Every year, the MBAA and club presidents provide material for the incoming student notebooks. It's time to start planning out what we'll include. The deadline for our contributions is August 31 -- we need to have our material to the MBA program office by that time. We will be providing:
- Letter from me to the incoming students
- Club information (club descriptions, dues list, etc.)
- Calendar of Events for Autumn Quarter Club activities
- Identity Initiative Information
- C4C—sometimes just information on the LEAD week event, sometimes additional information
- Other individual club event announcements
Katie Hanck will be working on the C4C materials. Kien, Liza, and I will be communicating with the other club presidents about the information we need from them for the notebook. Gabrielle will be coordinating the calendar of events. We need to print out the paper copies ourselves, and Abi has the information on our copy code.
