**************************************************************************************************** C4C Auction UW MBA Challenge for Charity (C4C) held its annual auction and gala this last Saturday at Bell Harbor Conference Center presented by Miller Nash -Attorneys at Law. It was a tremendous success pulled off by a team of over 60 volunteers led by the leadership of auction co-chairs, Amy Hughes and Ellie Peck. It was great to see the turnout from Alumni, Friends of Foster MBAs, and the business community leaders who donated thousands of dollars to SOWA and Boys and Girls Club. From Sarah Breen (Volunteer Chair), "Everyone did a fantastic job and I couldn’t have asked for a better team [of volunteers]. Last night was an unbelievable success and we could not have done it without each and every one of you." It was also nice to see everyone dressed up and their finest threads.
The total amount raised will be published later with Amy Hughes and Ellie Peck still recovering from auction night and 10 months of planning and execution. Please give them a big hand, some diet coke (for Amy), or shoulder massage if you see them in the lounge. **************************************************************************************************** Foster captures Wake Forest Competition The stellar Foster MBA '08 team of Annie Aikin, Hunter Saunders, Kevin Kirn, Matt Kuffel, Dan Liska and Lisa Meyr were winners of this weekend 18th Annual Wake Forest MBA Marketing Summit Case Competition. They flew to Wake Forest University to compete head to head against other top MBA schools. Give them a big pat on the back for this HUGE victory. For more information about this annual marketing strategy competition, you can find it here: http://www.mba.wfu.edu/marketingsummit
The 18th Annual Wake Forest MBA Marketing Summit is a full weekend of events. At its core, the Summit is a case competition. Each year, eight teams of MBA students from the world’s top programs are invited to compete in an intense 36 hour competition to solve a strategic marketing challenge faced by our high profile sponsor. **************************************************************************************************** Team Tegra Ventures captures VCIC Regionals by Storm Tegra Ventures was the winner of this weekend's 2008 Silicon Valley Regional Venture Capital Investment Competition. Foster Business School students Ashita Achuthan (MBA '08), Kien Ha (MBA' 08), Paul Meighan (MBA '08), Topher Sabella (MBA '09), and Stuart Young (MBA '08) competed against UCI, USF, Santa Clara, BYU, and USC to take home top honors. Please congratulate them on the big win. They will be moving onto VCIC Nationals in April at UNC-Chapel Hill. You can check out the tournament bracket here: http://www.vcic.unc.edu/
The VCIC is a national strategy competition where grad student teams assume the role of a venture capital firm in evaluating bona fide business plans and making investment decisions. The teams then defend their allocation decisions before a judging panel of Northwest venture capitalists. **************************************************************************************************** Club Election Just another reminder that club elections are being held this month. If you are interested in running for positions, please speak to your current club officers. These positions are open to 1st year FT and 1st and 2nd Year Evening MBAs. You can read about clubs descriptions here (http://students.washington.edu/mbaa/StudentOrgs.php ). **************************************************************************************************** Evening MBA Students - Running or Voting for MBA Clubs Positions? MBAA Council, including all Clubs, would like to encourage evening students to run and vote for club officer positions coming up later this month. This will help us interface and meet the needs of all students in each respective club. We wanted to remind evening students that if you want to vote for club officers and/or run for club positions, you must be a MBAA member and have paid membership dues. **************************************************************************************************** A shout out to MBAs for helping Admissions Office (From Tim Hossain) We want to give a quick shout out to the following folks who spend part of their winter break at home towns or cities outside Seattle visiting with prospective students at Café Shops.
