Take a quick glimpse of the MBA IN ( http://www.bschool.washington.edu/in/mba/) and you will see the various activities and events on a daily basis occurring at the business school. All of the these events are geared toward MBA students only. While most of us are struggling to juggle multiple priorities at a given time, it is important to pause and take advantage of what the business school has to offer during your lunch hour. While you can spend your time eating in the lounge, working during your full or part time job, going to the Ave, working out at the IMA, or playing pool in the lounge, please think about attending the BCC sponsored events (Meet the Firm) and Club Events (lunch time speakers). BCC staff and club officers have spent hours setting up these events for us. Meet the Firm* and Fireside Chat** Events
Due to the tireless efforts of Carrie Rees, Bryan Tomlinson, and others at the BCC, we have a great line-up of firms visiting the campus this fall and winter quarter. In looking at the number and list of firms making personal on-campus visits, we urge everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to attend these events. Even if you are not interested in the company or industry, chances are, you will learn something of value. Here are some general reasons why you should attend these events:1) Learn about career opportunities in various business industries
    2) Discuss industry topics when networking with others, keep up to date on business topics
    3) Show your support for the program. If we do not have good attendance, these firms might not come back next year
    4) Pass along information to your classmates
    5) A free lunch and some free swag
When attending these events be sure to do two things (beside the tips sent earlier by Carrie):
    1) Ask a question during Q&A
    2) Thank the guests for coming to campus before leaving the room. It will leave a good impression since they took time out of their day to come to campus.
*Meet the Firms are held during lunch in Balmer Hall
**Fireside Chats are usually held in the early evening in the Douglas Forum with a Fireplace (in the B of A Bldg)
Club Events
Did you know all MBA clubs have to coordinate their lunch event schedules (with the help of Gabrielle) to make sure club events are not in conflict? The MBA clubs make an effort to hold two club events during lunch per quarter, and each event is carefully planned by each club. The success of these lunch and non-lunch events is partly due to your attendance. While most of you have selected which clubs to join, the next step is to show your support by attending these events. Many clubs are planning to holder off campus and evening events to accommodate day and evening students. Note that it is not too late to join a club. To do so, make your payment for club dues directly to the club (check with the club's officers if you're unsure of the dues amount).
Why should you join a club?
        • Club dues enable clubs to buy food/alcohol/supplies for networking events and gifts for speakers, co-sponsor events such as TGs, and sponsors students to attend professional conferences.
        • As a club member, it allows you to "put a stake in the ground" and note this on your resume
        • It is a first step in becoming an elected official in that club next quarter.
