The MBA Lounge - Message from Anshu, VP of Resource Development
The breach of security related incidents in the lounge are on a rise again. I would to reiterate some ground rules to keep our lounge safe, secure, and enjoyable for all MBAA members.
1 - "The Lounge is provided and funded by the MBAA, for the MBAA members"
2 - Security Measures:

- If you are unsure if someone belongs in the lounge, please do not open the door for them. If you are in a situation in which stranger tries to follow you into the lounge, you should politely ask the person if they are a member of the MBA Association (i.e . do they belong to anyone of the MBA programs - FTMBA/ GEMBA/ GMBA/ EveMBA/ TechMBA)

- If you see someone inside the lounge, who you suspect is not a member of the MBAA, please use your discretion to make sure that she or he is from one of the MBA programs.

- There are times when we invite members of other schools in the University to some specific events (like TGs). We would like to encourage the use of name tags for all the guests during these events at all times. Of course the exceptions are your significant others and your kids!!
Message from Sarah, VP of Program Development
When I started looking at MBA programs, I used every resource available to learn more about a school’s culture, curriculum, and overall student experience. I found many student websites and blogs related to specific programs, but only one for UW. As the VP of Program Development, I’m currently working with the MBA Programs Office to make our program more accessible to prospective students. We’re currently looking at a variety of options for student blogs and hopefully we’ll soon be recruiting first year, second year, evening and global MBAs to share their experiences online. Switching gears a little, I’d like to tell you about the international student initiatives I’ve helped develop over the last six months. As many of you know, this year the MBA Global Business Association, the VP of International Student Affairs and the VP of Program Development have joined together to create the GBA Buddy System. This program pairs first year domestic students with international students for the purpose of learning about other cultures as well as providing a buddy to students who are new to the US. So far, we have over 70 participants. The GBA Buddy International Café provides buddies with a chance to meet off-campus, take a break from studying, and learn about cultures represented in our program. Last week’s themes are Korea and Japan: Similarities and Differences, and Oktoberfest (in honor of our Oktoberfest TG). Leadership Opportunities
We have created a list of MBAA and non-MBAA student leadership opportunities that are available for 1st year FT and PT students throughout the academic year. We want to distribute this document as it outlines positions across various interests including Academics, Student Government, Entrepreneurship, Board Member of Non-profit, and C4C. The document also briefly describes length of term and selection process. For example, the MBAA Executive Team (President, Executive Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer) elections will be the first week of February. The elections of the 10 MBAA VP Council will be held later in the month, after the Executive Team elections. We hope this is a useful reference tool as many of you are eager to actively participate in the MBA community on and off campus. <<...>> List of Club Officers
Attached is a list of current MBAA council and club officers and their contact information. This is also a helpful resource guide to contacting clubs and club officers. An example of how to use this list is to contact specific officers if you have ideas of guest speakers, club events, or just interested in learning more about specific decisions.. All clubs will be holding elections in winter quarter. Write to your club president if you have any questions. Note that all clubs have open, democratic-style elections. <<...>>
